Alter do Chão Nature Season
This is a community-driven initiative that reimagines the so-called “low season” as a time of rich natural beauty, tranquility, and authentic Amazonian experiences. Spearheaded by local business owners and cultural leaders, the project seeks to reposition the months of abundant rain and river fullness as a unique opportunity to experience the lush biodiversity and cultural depth of the Tapajós region. From forest excursions and river journeys to gastronomic and artistic events, the Nature Season celebrates the essence of Alter do Chão in its most fertile and mystical form. The movement reflects a collaborative vision for sustainable tourism—one that benefits the community, respects the environment, and invites travelers to discover the Amazon beyond the beach.
Alter Do Chão, The center of the Amazon
Nature Season is our way of celebrating the vibrant, living heart of the Amazon. While many travelers think of the region only during the high, sunny season, Nature Season invites you to embrace the unique charm of the Amazon's “green season.”
From February to June, the lush rainforests come alive. The rivers rise, creating a breathtaking network of waterways that mirror the sky. Wildlife becomes more active, and the landscapes transform into a symphony of greens. It’s a time of renewal, discovery, and connection – where every sunrise is a new adventure.
